Exclusive Operating Rights
Under the signed Concession Operator Contract, only the concessionaire is authorised to offer paid 4x4 excursions from the Sossusvlei 2x4 parking area into the restricted off-road zone leading to Deadvlei.
This exclusivity exists to protect sensitive terrain, reduce uncontrolled vehicle impact, improve safety, and enable effective park management.
What This Does Not Affect
This concession does not prevent:
Visitors from driving themselves to the 2x4 parking area
Lodge operators or tour operators transporting their own guests in their own vehicles, where permitted
Access to other public areas of the park
It applies only to the operation of paid 4x4 excursion services originating from the 2x4 parking area into the restricted zone.
